To evaluate the clinical and visual outcomes in cataract patients implanted with tri-focal intraocular lenses (IOLs) in combination with a novel intracapsular ring (fixOflexTM) over a period of 6 months.
Asuca eye clinic SENDAI MARK ONE
Cataract patients presented at ASUCA Eye Clinic Sendai Mark One between April 2022 and April 2023 were enrolled in the study. Thirty-five eyes of twenty-eight patients were implanted with the CNWTT IOL (Alcon Vision LLC, Fort Worth, TX, USA) in combination with the fixOflexTM ring.( EyePCR -Holland ) We report on the uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) (distances: 5, 1, 0.7, 0.5, 0.4 and 0.3m), manifest refraction spherical equivalent (MRSE), and refractive stability (MRSE difference from first to six months) , presence of PCO , Endothelia Cells Density , and IOP
UDVA was in Logmar scale -0.13±0.12, 0.07±0.10, 0.12±0.11, 0.07±0.12, 0.03±0.11, 0.15±0.15 (5m to 30cm). MRSE was -0.32±0.97 Diopters, Post-op refractive stability, 0.11±0.40 D. Cumulative UDVA of 20/20 was 87.5%, and cumulative CDVA of 20/20 was 100%. No secondary cataract appeared in any of the cases, ECD was within normal levels, and IOP was normal.
The use of FixOflexTM ring is a safe procedure The visual acuity of the multifocal intraocular lens combined with fixOflexTM was very good. The possibility of long-term preservation of visual function was demonstrated without secondary cataracts or decentration of the lens during the follow-up period of up to 6 months.
