Special Nursing Experience Of Deaf Patients Completing Smile Operation For Myopia

To help patients actively cooperate in the process of SMILE surgery and improve the safety and accuracy of surgery by studying and mastering the special information exchange methods of deaf patients undergoing refractive surgery, as well as the particularity of their psychology, behavior and appeal.

Learn and master part of the sign language, complete the necessary communication skills with deaf patients, and set a special intraoperative communication mode (because patients cannot use visual signals to obtain information during SMILE surgery) to grasp and control the patient's autonomous cooperation.

Five patients with hearing loss received complete preoperative patient education and effective psychological nursing during the operation, and successfully completed (10 eyes) myopia and myopic astigmatism SMILE surgery without any complications during the operation. The naked eye vision at 1, 7, 30 and 90 days after the operation was 90%, 100%, 100% and 100%, respectively, which reached or exceeded the best corrected vision before the operation; After operation, the time point of the naked eye equivalent spherical mirror was less than 0.50D; 

 The contrast observation of corneal topography before and after surgery showed that the central deviation of corneal microlens was less than 0.10 mm, and the patients had no symptoms of visual quality.

Although SMILE surgery requires a high degree of cooperation with patients, for deaf patients, medical staff can safely and accurately complete SMILE surgery if they can learn and master special information communication and specific psychological nursing methods.
