Purpose
To compare the postoperative short term rotational stability of Vivity Toric versus Panoptix Toric in a real-world scenario. An additional sub analysis was performed in the Panoptix group to compare the rotational stability of Acrysof verson Clareon intraocular lenses.
Setting
Clínica Rementería, Madrid, Spain.
Methods
Retrospective, observational study. The charts of consecutive patients that underwent cataract surgery or refractive lens exchange in our institution with multifocal toric intraocular lens (IOL) implantation, from January 2021 to February 2023, were reviewed. The toric multifocal IOL model (Vivity Toric or Panoptix Toric) to be implanted was prescribed by each surgeon independently, according to the patient´s needs and preoperative tests. The surgeries were performed by different surgeons and all IOL´s were implanted using Verion intraoperative digital marker. IOL alignment was reviewed in the 24 hours or day 7 follow up visits. The need for an additional surgery for IOL reposition was registered.
Results
The charts of 1487 eyes where a Vivity Toric or Panoptix Toric IOL´s was implanted were reviewed. The population distribution was as follows: 946 eyes with Vivity Toric, 541 Panoptix Toric from which 298 eyes were AcrySof Toric Panoptix and 243 Clareon Toric Panoptix. Only 4 eyes needed an additional surgery for IOL reposition, 3 of them were Panoptix Toric (all were Clareon models) and 1 Vivity Toric.
Conclusions
Both multifocal IOL models included in our study showed excellent short term rotational stability, regardless of the IOL characteristics, including IOL material
