Methods
This was a retrospective multicentre study. A total of 150 eyes of 75 patients with comparable preoperative characteristics (mean age, sex, axial length) and implanted with one of 4 IOLs with increased depth of focus were analysed. Monocular visual acuity was measured at distance, intermediate (60 cms) and near (33 cms) at 1 months after surgery. Defocus curve was measured monocularly for defocus between -3.0 D and 3.0 D. Comparison of visual performance between each group, but also with a control group of 50 eyes implanted with standard monofocal implants with aspheric profile was performed
Results
Uncorrected and best-corrected distance visual acuities did not show any significant difference between the 4 IOLs with slightly increased depth of focus, and also no significant difference with the control group. For intermediate visual acuity, there was a significant difference between each IOL and the control group. The defocus curves show a depth of field varying from 0.50D to 0.75D for all 4 IOLs
