Laser Vision Correction In Private Medical Center (Kyiv, Ukraine) At The Extreme Period Of Ukrainian History.

To evaluate the demography, patients decision making and considerations  for  Laser Vision Correction (LVC) before and after February 24, 2022.

Retrospective analysis of the quantity, quality (type of surgery), demography, and the questionary (decision making process) of LVC at one year period before February 24, 2022, and one year after the Date, performed in AILAS Medical Center (Private Medical Center) in Kyiv City, Ukraine.

Files and Questionary of 3305 patients, who did LVC at period from February 2020, till February 2023 were analyzed.

Out of 3305 patients, who did LVC, 1880 were operated before February 24, 2022 (First group), respectively 1425 (Second group) – after. Decreasing in activity - 24%. First Group: 568 (30%) Males and 1312 (70%) Females. LASIK/ALSA (Advanced Laser Surface Ablation) ratio was 1372 (73%) of LASIK to 508 (27%) of ALSA, with 369 (65%) of LASIK in Male, and 1003 (75%) of LASIK in Femail.

Second group, operated after February 24, 2022, was with absolutely different demography and LASIK/ALSA ratio : 926 (65%) Males and 499 (35%) Females. LASIK/ALSA ratio was 242 (17%) of LASIK, to 1183 (83%) of ALSA. With 861 (93%) of ALSA in Male, and 322 (65%) of ALSA in Female.

The reasons leading to the decision to do LVC at the time of Extreme situation and at the time of peaceful urban life are different.
Consideration of mechanical strength of the cornea postoperatively (absence of flap formation at ALSA) at the time of Extreme situation prevail over consideration of comfortable early postoperative period.
Of all the conveniences of Laser Vision Correction the Most Underrated is the safety and conveniency of good unaided vision in extreme conditions.
