To report the safety and efficacy of Femto LASIK for high hyperopia with MEL 90 excimer laser (Carl Zeiss Meditec, Jena, Germany).

Private clinical ophthalmology practice.

This retrospective analysis included 132 eyes with hyperopia ≥4,00 diopters (D) treated by Femto LASIK using the Triple-A ablation profile with the MEL 90 and femtosecond laser VisuMax to create the flap. Patients were observed for 12 months after surgery.

Mean attempted spherical equivalent refraction (SEQ) was +4,35 ± 1,03D (range: +4,00D to 6,50D). Mean age was 38 years (range: 19 to 61 years) and 53% were male. Postoperative SEQ was ±0.50 D in 73% and ±1.00 D in 96% of eyes after the treatment. One line of BCVA was lost in 23,5% of eyes and two lines were lost in 4,5% of eyes.

Femto LASIK with the MEL 90 excimer laser is safe and effective for hyperopia in range from +4,00D to +6,50D.
