Purpose

To show patient reported outcomes and visual performance in routine clinical practice of a sub-group of subjects bilaterally implanted with AcrySof IQ Vivity and AcrySof IQ Vivity Toric in 10 German sites.

Setting

This is a sub-analysis of a multicenter, ambispective registry study conducted in Europe, Australia and New Zealand evaluating the performance of bilaterally implanted AcrySof Vivity and AcrySof Vivity Toric IOL in a real world setting through routine clinical practice. Here we report the outcomes from the 10 German sites.

Methods

A total of 174 subjects were enrolled among the 10 German sites included in this sub-analysis and they were evaluated using local clinical practice standards. At the study entry visit (~3-6 months postop), patient reported outcomes, such as patients’ satisfaction and spectacle independence were assessed through validated questionnaires, using Catquest SF-9 and IOLSAT, respectively. Binocular uncorrected and best distance corrected visual acuities at different distances (UCDVA/BDCVA, UCIVA, DCIVA, UCNVA, DCNVA) as well as visual disturbances were also reported.

Results

After 3 months minimum time from the second eye surgery more than 82% of the subjects reported to be satisfied with their sight, 90.8% reported no difficulty to walk on uneven surfaces and 86.8% seeing to engage in a hobby that are interested in. More than 50% of the subjects reported never/rarely wearing eyeglasses to see up close, 89.1% at arm’s length and 89.5% at far away under bright light. Subjects reported “None” for halos was 95.4%, glare 92.5% or starbursts 98.3%. Binocular mean UCDVA was 0.029 ± 0.111 logMAR, mean UCIVA at 66 cm was 0.103 ± 0.132 logMAR and mean UCNVA at 40 cm was 0.245 ± 0.162 logMAR.

Conclusions

German patients implanted bilaterally with AcrySof IQ Vivity IOL reported high patient satisfaction and spectacle independence for distance and intermediate as well as low difficulty levels to perform daily activities.  Visual performance was excellent from distance to intermediate and functional near maintaining very low level of visual disturbances.
