Purpose

To report real world visual outcomes on a large variety of cataract subjects implanted bilaterally with an extended depth of focus AcrySof IQ Vivity® and/or AcrySof IQ Vivity® Toric IOL.

Setting

Multicenter, ambispective registry study conducted in Europe, Australia and New Zealand evaluating the visual performance of subjects bilaterally implanted with AcrySof IQ Vivity and AcrySof IQ Toric IOL in a real world setting through routine clinical practice.

Methods

After approximately 3-6 months of the second eye surgery (defined by local clinical practice standards), visual performance was evaluated based on visual acuity at distance, intermediate (66 cm) and near (40 cm) distances (UCDVA/BCDVA, UCIVA/DCIVA and UCNVA/DCNVA). Manifest spherical equivalent and cylinder, non-prompted interview visual disturbances, subject satisfaction (Catquest SF-9), and spectacle independence (IOLSAT) were also recorded.

Results

This final analysis includes 813 cataract subjects implanted bilaterally with the AcrySof IQ Vivity IOL. Binocular mean ± SD UCDVA was 0.11±0.10 logMAR, UCIVA was 0.09±0.12 logMAR, and UCNVA was 0.26±0.15 logMAR. Binocular mean ± SD BCDVA was -0.03±0.08, DCIVA was 0.10±0.12 logMAR, DCNVA was 0.29±0.16 logMAR. 92% of patients reported to be satisfied with their vision and more than 74% reported no difficulty seeing the prices of goods when shopping. Most of the patients reported never or rarely needing glasses to see up close (58.8%), arm’s length (88.8%) and far away (93%). No halos, glare and starburst were reported by 91.8%, 92.4%, and 95.0% of the patients respectively.

Conclusions

These outcomes on the real-world evaluation in a large variety of subjects bilaterally implanted with AcrySof IQ Vivity have shown good distance (20/20 Snellen), intermediate (~20/25 Snellen) and functional near visual outcomes (~20/32 Snellen). Subjects also showed high patient satisfaction and spectacle independence as well as very low levels of visual disturbances.
