To investigate the visual outcomes of PanOptix implantation in age-related cataract patients with previous myopic corneal refractive surgery.

Retrospective, single-arm, multicenter study.

Patients with history of Laser in situ keratomileusis (Lasik) underwent cataract surgery and PanOptix trifocal IOLs implantation. Postoperative follow-ups were scheduled at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months. Outcome measures were visual acuity of distance, intermediate and near, manifest refraction, defocus curve, visual function questionnaire (VF-14), patient satisfaction and rate of spectacle independence.

108 Eyes from 54 patients were included. Mean monocular UDVA, UIVA and UNVA (logMAR) at 6 months postoperatively were 0.02 ± 0.11, 0.02 ± 0.07, and 0.04 ± 0.09 respectively. Mean postoperative spherical equivalent (SE) was - 0.12 ± 0.47D at 6 months. The mean arithmetic and absolute prediction error of refraction spherical equivalent were -0.05 ± 0.46D and 0.37 ± 0.28D. Fifty patients out of 54 patients (93%) were satisfied with the results of treatment, without any difficulty in daily activity. Fifty-three patients (98%) were able to be glasses free for daily living.

Trifocal IOL implantation in eyes previously treated with myopic excimer laser correction could achieve good visual outcomes and provide accurate refraction. Patients’ satisfaction and spectacle independence rate were high.
