Purpose

Persistent epithelial defect is one of the complications of photo-ablative refractive surgery, which sometimes poses a management problem.

Setting

Persistent epithelial defect is one of the complications of photo-ablative refractive surgery, which sometimes poses a management problem.

Methods

We report 5 cases of persistent epithelial defect 1 month after photoablative refractive surgery, treated with a suturless dehydrated amniotic membrane graft.

Results

Complete reepithelialization is obtained after 1 week of amniotic membrane transplantation without added refractive error.

Conclusions

the dehydrated amniotic membrane without sutures is a good alternative in  the ocular surface diseases treatment , in particular for the management of epithelial defects after refractive surgery. An effective and efficient technique, especially its easy practice in office .
