Purpose
Given that the Zeiss CLARUS500 retinal imaging camera has just been applied to refractive surgery preoperative retinal imaging disease screening, a summary of the corresponding clinical work was completed based on its technical characteristics, with the aim of optimizing the examination process and providing a basis for the establishment of SOP for the CLARUS500 preoperative refractive surgery retinal imaging screening in the future.
Setting
ZEISS CLARUS500
Methods
80 patients (160 eyes) were examined before refractive surgery, divided into 3 groups: 1. fully dilated group (20 patients, 40 eyes): examination 45 minutes after 3 dilutions; 2. incompletely dilated group (40 patients, 80 eyes): examination 5 minutes after 1 dilution; 3. Non-mydriatic group (20 patients, 40 eyes): examination before drops of dilutions. all 3 groups were examined by the same technician, using a Zeiss The advantages and disadvantages of the three examination modes were compared in terms of examination time consumption, comfort, and difficulty of operation.
Results
- The average examination time was from longest to shortest: Non-mydriatic group, completely dilated group, and incompletely dilated group.
- The examination comfort of questionnaire patients was from highest to lowest: incompletely dilated group, Non-mydriatic group, and completely dilated group.
- The difficulty of operation by the technician was from highest to lowest: Non-mydriatic group, incompletely dilated group, and completely dilated group.
Conclusions
The high-definition and ultra-wide angle features of the CLARUS500 help to complete refractive preoperative retinal imaging screening well. The use of incomplete dilated pupil examination mode is the most practical with short time consumption and high examination comfort.
