Purpose
Setting
A prospective study that conducted at single center, All patients underwent Toric ICL implantation for hyperopic astigmatism were assessed for 5-year follow-up outcomes.
Methods
30 eyes of 15 patients with an average age of 27 years were included in the study (range: 21 to 40 years). The results of spherical and cylindrical refraction, uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), refraction, vault, and angle parameters were assessed throughout the 5 years of follow up.
Results
We had 30 eyes of 15 patients . The preoperative mean UDVA of 20/100 increased to 20/25 Snellen postoperatively (P .0001). Preoperative mean CDVA changed from 20/25 to 20/20 which was not statistically significant. The mean pre-op cylinder was -1.5 ± 0.75 D and the mean pre-op sphere was 5.5 ±1.5 diopters (D). The mean sphere at 5 years after surgery was 0.5 ± 0.4D (P < .001) and the cylinder became -0.40 ± 0.3 D (P < .001). At 5 years , the mean vault was 0.35 ± 0.23 mm. Besides the endothelial cell count, AC depth, corneal topography and complications, the pre and annual trabecular-iris angle (TIA), (TISA&AOD 500 and 750) values for both nasal and temporal values were analyzed.
Conclusions
Toric Hyperopic ICL provides an excellent visual outcome and safe complication profile over 5 years follow up
