To develop The Standardized Patient Evaluation of Eye Dryness (SPEED) in Thai language.

Online base in Hospital, Thailand

Translation of the SPEED questionnaire from English to Thai was verified by ophthalmologists and linguists using focus group analysis due to psychometric performance and cultural aspect. The Validity of the Thai version – The Standardized Patient Evaluation of Eye Dryness (T-SPEED)was assessed by 10 experts (2 Cornea specialists, 2 General ophthalmologists, 2 General practitioners, 2 Eye technicians and 2 Linguist. The Validity indexes, Item Objective Congruence (IOC), Item level Content Validity Index (I-CVI) and total scale level content Validity Index (S-CVI) were collected. Then, The Reliability was assessed randomly participants by Cronbach’s alpha Coefficient.

For Validity test: range of IOC and mean IOC showed 0.8-1.0 and 0.93:  range of I-CVI and S-CVI showed 0.9-1.0 and 0.99. For Reliability test, 290 participants were collected. The report of the symptoms, the frequency and severity showed 5.2-46.6%, 36.2-67.2% and 33.8-62.8%. The Reliability showed 0.775 and 0.837 of Cronbach’s alpha Coefficient.

The SPEED questionnaire for Thai language have demonstrated good validity and reliability in psychometric properties. Accordingly, the T-SPEED could be used to evaluate the presence of symptoms and severity of Thai dry eye patients.
