Purpose

To report on the clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction with the Precizion Presbyopic NVA Multifocal intraocular lens (IOL), with Continuous Transitional Focus (CTF) optic design, indicated for pseudophakic patients with continuous range of vision needs from near distance to infinity.

Setting

All surgeries and follow-up appointments were performed at Hospital de São Bernardo (Setúbal, Portugal).

Methods

A retrospective, observational, single-center study that included 29 patients who underwent cataract surgery with implantation of the Precizion Presbyopic NVA Multifocal IOL, between July 2021 to December 2022. The clinical outcomes, safety and patient satisfaction after implantation were analysed.

Results

Our sample consists of 40 eyes from 29 patient (38% had bilateral surgery), with mean age of 67 ± 5 years old. No serious adverse events related to the surgical procedure or IOL were reported. The mean best uncorrected distance visual acuity was 0.08 ± 0.08 logMAR and mean objective spherical equivalent was - 1.53 ± 1,84 D. >90% of patients reported none or rare halos and glare with this multifocal IOL.

Conclusions

The results showed that Precizion Presbyopic NVA Multifocal IOL is a good option for patients at distance, intermediate and near range. The very low percentage of glare and halos reported by our patients may be due to the CTF technology present in this IOL, although a larger sample and longer follow-up time are necessary to strengthen our results.
