Report our result in refractive cataract surgery with mix and match

Bifocal IOL is used for many years to treat near vision after cataract surgery. These implants can not promote distance vision and near vision at the same time.

20 patients are operated by the same surgeon (40 eyes). All patients were examineted to exclude any other disease.

In the dominant eye the chosen bifocal IOL  is emetropizing, on the other eye we aim for myopia from -0.75 to -1.00.

The surgery was a classic phaco

Follow up between 6 months and 2 years.

All patients had cataracts, no clear lens sugery.

We evaluate the patients in binocular vision.

Visual acuity in all patient was > 7/10 without glasses. All patients can read newspaper and use their phone easely without glasses.

Patients report difficulty reading the very small print. Others have difficulty reading in the dark

But globaly, 95% were independent of glasses in everyday life

Good and inexpensive method to treat presbyopia after cataract surgery
