To present postoperative effects in 2 patients with concomitant ophthalmological diseases (glaucoma, epiretinal membrane) that succesfully underwent the implantation of the AcrySof® IQ Vivity™ lens.

AcrySof® IQ Vivity® IOLs (Alcon Inc., USA) belong to the group of non-diffractive, hydrophobic EDOF IOLs with an ultraviolet and blue light filter. Unlike multifocal lenses, the extended depth-of-focus (EDOF) intraocular lens technology generate a single elongated focal point rather than several foci thus providing patients with clear distance and intermediate vision, as well as useful close-distance visual acuity.

A retrospective analysis of postoperative outcomes in 2 patients with concomitant ophthalmological diseases (glaucoma, epiretinal membrane) that underwent Acrysof IQ Vivity IOL implantation in one (case 1.) and both eyes (case 2.). All surgical procedures and qualifying and follow-up visits, took place at the Laser Eye Microsurgery Centre, Warsaw, Poland. All patients were pre- and postoperatively assessed for uncorrected and corrected distance and near visual acuity and underwent full ophthalmological examination and additional tests presented in the poster. The study was conducted in accordance with the principles of the Helsinki Declaration, and the patients gave their written consent to use their medical data in the case series study.

Both patients described in this mini case series achieved very satisfactory postoperative far distance and intermediate vision acuity, as well as good near vision acuity (both reported of using reading glasses only in poor lighting conditions).

The implantation of the AcrySof® IQ Vivity™ lens allows to obtain very good visual acuity for distance and intermediate distance without correction, as well as good visual acuity for near without correction. Thanks to innovative technologies, it reduces the amount of optical aberrations and provides a better contrast sensitivity under twilight or night conditions. It allows to obtain satisfactory postoperative effects, even in patients with concomitant ophthalmological diseases after careful, individual qualification.
