To evaluate the functional outcomes including visual performance and patient reported outcomes after implantatition of the new toric enhanced monofocal lens RayOne EMV toric RAO210T (Rayner, UK).

International Vision Correction Research Centre (IVCRC), Department of Ophthalmology, University Hospital Heidelberg, Germany

This ongoing prospective study includes 5 eyes of 3 patient who had phacoemulsification with implantation of the RayOne EMV toric RAO210T (Rayner, Uk). Main outcome measures were subjective refraction, corrected and uncorrected visual acuity, monocular and binocular [logMar] for distance, intermediate and near vision, as well as a binocular best-corrected defocus curve analysis in range +2 to -4 were evaluated 1 (N=1) week, 1 (N=1), 3 (N=1) and 6 (N=1) months after surgery.

The binocular distance-corrected defocus curve at 1 week showed a continuous visual acuity of 0.20 logMAR or better in the range of +1.5 to -2.5 diopters of defocus. The binocular distance-corrected defocus curve at 1/ 3/ 6 month showed a continous visual acuity of 0.14/ 0.22/ 0.14 logMAR or better in the range of +1.5 to – 2.5 diopters of defocus curve. Evaluation of more detailed results and defocus curves are ongoing.

The initial results indicate a good visual acuity and offer an increased range of focus of ~1.5D when used with emmetropia target in both eyes. The IOL power calculation for RayOne EMV(T) and the implantation behaviour is uncomplicated. Evaluation of more visual acuity and defocus curve outcomes at 3 and 6 months postoperatively is ongoing.
