Clinical Outcomes Of The Toric Extended Depth Of Focus Mini Well Toric Ready® Intraocular Lens After Cataract Surgery

To evaluate the visual performance and rotational stability of the toric EDOF Mini WELL Toric Ready® intraocular lens (SIFI, Catania, Italy)

Twenty-one patients (42 eyes) who underwent phacoemulsification with bilateral implantation with Mini WELL Toric Ready® were evaluated. At 7-14 days (V1), 30-45 days (V2), and 90-105 days (V3) from surgery, monocular and binocular visual acuity (VA) were tested as: uncorrected VA for distance at 4m (UDVA), intermediate at 63cm (UIVA), and near at 40cm (UNVA); and best-corrected VA for distance at 4m (CDVA), intermediate at 63cm (DCIVA), and near at 40cm (DCNVA). Moreover, rotational stability, defocus curve, contrast sensitivity (CS), photic phenomena (halo and glare), and quality of vision (QOV) were evaluated.

At V3, the mean spherical equivalent(±SD) was -0.32(±0.46) diopters. Mean(±SD) binocular UDVA, UIVA, and UNVA were -0.12(±0.12), 0.15(±0.09), and -0.03(±0.10) logMAR, respectively; while mean(±SD) binocular CDVA, DCIVA, and DCNVA were -0.17(±0.10), 0.12(±0.09), and -0.02(±0.09) logMAR, respectively. Eighty-one percent of eyes had an IOL rotation of <15 degrees (mean: 4 degrees, ±11.2). The mean(±SD) post-operative refractive cylinder was -0.41(±0.31). Defocus curve showed a mean CDVA of at least 0.10 logMAR from +2D up to −3.5D. Binocular CS was 1.71(+0.13) logCS for far (1m) and 1.74(+0.11) logCS for near (40cm). Halo size and intensity were 10/100 and 19/100. Glare size and intensity were 15/100 and 17/100. Mean total QOV was 84.7/100.

The Mini WELL Toric Ready® IOL has good rotational stability and produces excellent visual outcomes for distance, intermediate, and near. These attributes combined with minimal photic phenomena and good contrast sensitivity result in high over-all quality of vision.
