Purpose

To report our feedback on the new IOL MATCH application to optimize the choice of presbyopic intraocular lenses (IOL) EDOF and MIOL during biometry

Setting

Centre Ophtalmologique IRIDIS, Albi, France.

Methods

IOL MATCH is a new Open-Source application to collect patients’ visual behavior and biometrics parameters to help surgeons to reach the better choice of IOL during biometry. We developed this application to be more efficient in matching the visual needs of our patients with the final decision of the type of IOL. The biometric parameters and the ocular conditions can be directly added to the application to influence the choice of IOLs (corneal or retinal conditions, aberrometric parameters, condition of the tear film, etc.). At the end, a report, as well as curves of visual habits, are generated, allowing to automatically propose the best type of IOL according to the preferential configuration of the surgeon.

Results

The application is in the trial phase and the results will be presented at congress. The app will be available in Open Source at the time of the congress.

Conclusions

Personalizing the choice of IOLs according to the ocular condition and the visual needs of our patients is essential today to obtain optimized results. The IOL MATCH application has been developed to objectify these parameters that have not been taken into account so far.
