Vivity Edof Iol Beamshape Technology Performance

To evaluate visual performanceafter bilateral implantation of an extended depth of focus ( EDOF ) intraocular lenses (IOL ) Vivity.

The prospective study was done in Eye Center Riga.

The prospective, observational study included 60 patients ( 120 ) eyes. They all had bilateral FLAKS cataract surgery with toric and non-toric EDOF IOL Vivity, implantations.

48 patients had the final examination after 6 months. Binocular distance visual acuity, uncorrected distance visual acuity, binocular near visual acuity, uncorrected intermediate vision acuity, visible symptoms, spectacle independence, and patient satisfaction were examined.

Visual acuity results showed perfect corrected distance visual acuity of 1,15±0,12, UDVA of 1,08±0,18, and UIVA of 0,94±0,12. Binocular UDVA and UIVA were 0,9 or better in 99% and 96% of the eyes, respectively. Binocular UNVA was 0,58 or better in 75% of patients. More than 72% of the patients achieved spectacle independence across all distances, and more than 80%reported no, or, mild dysphotoptic phenomena. On a scale of 0 to 10, patient satisfaction was 9 for far, 9 for intermediate, and 7 for near vision.

The VIVITY EDOF IOL shows very well distance, intermediate visual outcome, and near visual acuity. Most patients were happy to be free without glasses.
