Management Of Spontaneous Corneal Rupture In A Case Of Acute Hydrops Secondary To Pellucid Marginal Degeneration

To Present a case of spontaneous corneal rupture in acute hydrops secondary to Pellucid Marginal degeneration managed successfully using cyanoacrylate glue and bandage contact lens .
45 years old patient with spontaneous corneal rupture secondary to Pellucid marginal degeneration .
45 years old man known to have Pellucid Marginal degeneration both eyes , came to Emergency room complaining of sudden loss of vision in his left eye for 2 days associated with redness and discomfort . Examination Right eye showed VA 6/60 with Pellucid marginal degeneration . Left eye examination showed VA counting finger near face , mild conjunctival injection , acute hydrops inferotemprally with corneal leak at same site less than 2 mm , shallow anterior chamber , hazy view behind the cornea and no signs of infection . We managed the case using cyanoacrylate glue and bandage contact lens . Patient showed improvement in the following days and wound closed after 2 weeks . Last visit after 2 months patient was doing fine , quite eye , no leake , no hydrops , corneal scar and deep anterior chamber .
Spontaneous corneal rupture in cases of acute hydrops secondary to Pellucid Marginal Degeneration can be managed successfully in some cases using corneal glue and bandage contact lenses .
