Purpose
To demonstrate real world visual outcomes and patient reported outcomes in a large cohort implanted bilaterally with Acrysof IQ Vivity presbyopia correcting IOL after long term follow-up.
Setting
Multicenter, ambispective registry study conducted in Europe, Australia and New Zealand evaluating the performance of bilaterally implanted AcrySof IQ Vivity and AcrySof IQ Vivity Toric IOL in a real world setting through routine clinical practice.
Methods
Binocular uncorrected and corrected visual acuity at distance, intermediate (66 cm) and near (40 cm) were evaluated (UCDVA/BCDVA, UCIVA/DCIVA and UCNVA/DCNVA). Subject satisfaction and spectacle independence were recorded via validated questionnaires, using Catquest 9-SF and IOSAT, respectively. Patient reports of visual disturbances were also assessed. Follow-up evaluation was defined by the standard of care of each site and data was collected up to 12 months follow-up. This analysis shows the data of subjects at the last follow-up visit- 335 to 395 days after 2nd eye surgery.
Results
Out of 910 subjects enrolled at study entry visit, 266 subjects were available for analysis at ~12 months follow-up. Binocular mean UCDVA was 0.014 ± 0.088 logMAR, mean UCIVA was 0.080 ± 0.115 logMAR and mean UCNVA was 0.211 ± 0.135 logMAR. Binocular mean BCDVA was -0.021 ± 0.071 logMAR, mean DCIVA was 0.083 ± 0.122 logMAR and mean DCNVA was 0.242 ± 0.143 logMAR. Most of the subjects reported never/rarely needing to wear eyeglasses to see up close was 63.6%, or at arm’s length 90.4% or far away 92.8%. Patient satisfaction was very high after 12 months follow-up, 93.2% reported to be satisfied with their sight. Subjects reporting “None” for halos was 90.1%, glare 92% or starbursts 93.9%. 4.8% of subjects required posterior capsulotomy.
Conclusions
This real-world study in a diverse large population of subjects bilaterally implanted with AcrySof IQ Vivity presbyopia correcting IOL and long-term follow-up shows excellent visual performance at distance and intermediate and functional near which is stable over time. After approximately 12 months follow-up, patient satisfaction and spectacle independence are still very high with very low visual disturbances and low posterior capsulotomy intervention required. This data shows the great benefits of AcrySof IQ Vivity IOL in a robust and stable platform which allows consistent outcomes over time.
