Purpose
To assess the level of knowledge about retinopathy of prematurity of neonatologists in Alexandria general hospitals.
Setting
A general hospitals' based assessment of knowledge and education of neonatologists about ROP.
Methods
A pretest was prepared for neonatologists and held in the meeting room in their hospital and then results were calculated. Afterwards an orientation lecture was given.
Results
The level of knowledge about retinopathy of prematurity of neonatologists in Alexandria general hospitals was significantly average and they were well oriented about the subject with the lecture.
Conclusion
With the rising of the number of surviving premature infants in Egypt with the development of level of care, ROP became a rising problem that needs good orientation to the neonatologists about the importance and indications of screening.
