Purpose

Ectopia lentis is the dislocation or displacement of the natural crystalline lens. The lens is defined as luxated (dislocated) when it lies completely outside of the hyaloid fossa, is free-floating in the vitreous, is in the anterior chamber, or lies directly on the retina. Marfan is considered as one of the most common aetioligies. we report here an ectopias lentis in a 6 YO child revealing the presence of the condition in the mother.

Setting

Mohammed VI university hospital, oujda, Morocco

Methods

A 6 years old girl with low vision symptoms revealing an Marfan syndrome presence.

Results

A 6 years old girls was admitted for low vision symptoms. Ocular examinatioon revealed a Visual acuity of CF in boths eyes with set of intermittent exotropias, a supero-temporal bilateral ectopia lentis and normal retina. A paediatric examination revealed a slender mrophology ( as seen in figures), with long fingers. Cardiac ulstraound examination revealed a dilatation of initial aorta as an argument for marfan disease with no pathological impact. the family examination found the excat same morphological and ocular signs in the mother, without cardiac signs. the daughter have been operated with implantation in bag in the first eye , and ARTISAN in the second due to the weak support. she was adressed to rehabiltation with a visual acuity of 6/10.

Conclusion

this case enlightens the importance of the examination of family in ectopia lentis which can be useful to recomfort the diagnosis and establish a solid genetic screening , permetting an effecient prevention for next generations.
