Purpose

To analyze the different types of glaucoma surgical maneuvers performed between the years 2019-2020 at the San Cecilio University Hospital of Granada.

Setting

Ophthalmology department, Hospital Universitario San Cecilio, Granada, Spain

Methods

A retrospective, descriptive study. We have reviewed and analyzed the
clinic stories and clinical records of patients who underwent glaucoma surgery in
our hospital between 2019 and 2020.

Results

Regarding I-stent inject, the intraocular pressure (IOP) decreased 6 months and 1 year later with a percentage achieved of 19.07% and 10.06% respectively, and in terms of the number of drugs decline of 33.64% and 30, 04% (6 months and year respectively) was achieved. Subcyclo laser: reduction of IOP of 13.64% and 7.39% of the number of drugs (one year after surgery). Xen device: IOP reduction of 30.39% and 92,92% of the number of drugs. Filtering surgeries such as Non-penetrating deep sclerectomy(NPDS) and trabeculectomy: reduction of IOP of 42.56% and 57.087% of the number of drugs.

Conclusion

● MIGs showed discrete results in our sample.
● MEPGs (Xen) good results with own technique:
○ Useful in myopic eyes.
● Express was useful in uveitic patients, lowering IOP similar to trabeculectomy.
● Filtering surgeries had he best results in our sample:
○ NPDS and Trabeculectomy. Both with similar results.
● Sequential surgery was safer and we obtained better results than long-term
combined surgery.
● The Valves showed a greater lowering of IOP but with less reduction in the
number of drugs (compared with NPDS or Trabeculectomy)
