Purpose

To evaluate changes in corneal measured pachymetry values 3-months after myopic lenticule extraction on the Schwind ATOS femtosecond platform and their relation the estimated values.

Setting

University Eye Clinic Svjetlost, Zagreb, Croatia

Methods

Case series of 100 eyes undergoing uneventful SmartSight lenticule analyzed using the CSO MS39 AS-OCT. Estimated value was recorded in the Schwind Atos software version 1.6.0.4 and measurements were done on POD1, POD30, POD90. Only eyes with less than MSEQ of 0.5D were included in the analysis.

Results

The 100 analyzed eyes were followed up for a minimum of 3 months.

Average estimated lenticule thickness was 104 microns (SD 15.3), average thickness on POD1 was 85.3 (SD 19.9), POD30 was 90.9 (SD 17.8), POD90

Conclusion

Lenticule extraction with Schwind ATOS is safe and effective, the current software version over-estimates the thickness of the lenticule by 10-20% depending on the case. This might be deliberate to ensure surgeons use less tissue in early cases.
