Results
Group 1 and 2 have a BCDVA (decimal scale), of 0.96 (0.22) and 0.87 (0.14), not being statistically significant differences at 1 month. At 3 months,BCDVA (decimal scale), was 1.02 (0.12) and 0.82 (0.17), for groups 1 and 2 respectively, with no statistical differences between them. There were no significant differences in sphere and cylinder at 1 or 3 months after cataract surgery.Endothelial cellularity one and 3 months after cataract surgery was 1.512 and 1.474 cells/mm2 in group 1 and 2.284 and 1.859 in group 2, being close to significance (p=0.06).
Conclusion
The results in the overall population (7 eyes) show the safety (BCVA) of Vivity implantation in this cohort of patients.
We have not found significant differences in refractive results in DMEK surgery associated with phaco in the same act versus DMEK first and phaco three months later.
Endothelial cellularity was lower in the group where phaco was performed 3 months after DMEK without significant differences.
Studies with a larger sample size are needed to be able to establish differences between both approaches.
