Purpose
To compare the rate of postoperative endophthalmitis before and after nurses training.
Setting/Venue
Observation of patient undergoing cataract surgery in Sirdarya regional ophthalmic hospital. Gulistan. Uzbekistan.
Methods
Retrospective evaluation of endophthalmitis rate before and after the introduction of a nurse education system. The average number of Cataract surgeries 8450 period before trainings (2007 - 2013) and 9120 surgeries training period (2014 - 2019).
Results
The overall incidence of postoperative endophthalmitis in first period was 17 (0.201%). After the introduction of regular trainings among nurses, the incidence of endophthalmitis decreased to 9 (0.09%).
Conclusions
Advanced training and constant monitoring of nurses' knowledge leads to a decrease in postoperative infectious complications.
