Purpose

To present preliminary results of our first cases of Lenticle Intrastromal Keratoplasty (LIKE) for High Hyperopia

Setting

IROC (Institute for Refractive and Ophthalmic Surgery) Zürich.

Methods

10 eyes of 8 patients with hyperopia magna (>4.0 dioptres) undergone Lenticule Intrastromal Keratoplasty (LIKE) at the Institute for Refractive and Ophthalmic Surgery between 2015 and 2020. The data were recorded preoperatively, after 1 day, 1 month, 3 months and 12 months respectively. Subjective refraction, cycloplegic refraction prior to lenticule implantation, manifest refraction prior to laser correction, postoperative subjective refraction, efficacy index and safety index were analysed. The follow-up was up to 4 years after lenticule implantation.

Results

All patients gained at least 2 lines in UCVA, the mean spherical equivalent postoperative was -0.23 dioptres, the mean efficacy index was 0.76 and the mean safety index was 1.03.

Conclusions

Our 1-year results after LIKE procedure have good efficacy, predictability and safety profiles and show encouraging potential in treating high hyperopia and improving the quality of life for our patients.
