Methods
In this study 20 patients (40 eyes) underwent bilateral phacoemulsification and diffractive-refractive IOL implantation. Best distance corrected and uncorrected visual acuities at 4 meters, 80, 60, and 40 centimeters (BDVA, UDVA, BI80VA, UI80VA, BI60VA, UI60VA, BNVA, UNVA), astigmatic and myopic defocus curve, mean reading speed (MRS), contrast sensitivity, optical aberrations (MTF cut-off, Strehl ratio and HOA RMS), objective halometry, and NEI-42 questionnaire were evaluated 3 months after surgery.
Results
Astigmatic defocus curves revealed astigmatism tolerance up to -1.00 D and +0.75 D for the with the rule astigmatism and up to -1.00 D and +1.00 D for the against the rule. Mean binocular myopic defocus curve showed that the visual acuity was than 0.15 logMAR from 1.0 to -1.0 D. MRS, MTF cut-off, Strehl ratio and HOA RMS were found 116.97 (± 21.94) words/min, 20.03 (±4.86) cpd/deg, 0.11 (±0.07) and 0.28 (±0.09). Contrast sensitivity was within the normal range for all tested light conditions showing slightly better performance in photopic condition. The NEI RQL-42 evidenced high subjective satisfaction results for all the subscales, especially for far vision, activity limitations, dependence on correction, satisfaction with correction.
Conclusions
The Precizon Presbyopic IOL allows high astigmatism tolerance and excellent BI80VA, BI60VA and BNVA keeping high-level of objective and subjective quality of vision.
