Purpose
To determine the changes in corneal density after Epi-off versus Epi-on corneal collagen crosslinking for keratoconus
Setting
Future center for Refarctive Surgeries, Sohag, Egypt.
Methods
50 eyes with Keratoconus stage II-III with indicated CXL were included. Corneal densitometry was measured preoperatively and at 3 and 6 month postoperatively. Corneal density wa measured using Occulus corneal topographer. #0 eyes underwent Epi-off CXL (group A) and 20 eyes underwent Epi-on CXL (group B).
Results
There was statistically significant changes in corneal density between both groups. The corneal densitometry showed higher values in Epi-off CXL group than Epi-n CXL group. The data were significant at 3rd and 6th months postoperatively.
Conclusions
Epi-off CXL is associated with significant changes in corneal densitometry than Epi-on CXL.
