Purpose
To employ statistical modelling in the identification of significant contributors to patient satisfaction and subsequently the development of patient-specific lens selection methodologies.

Private Refractive Surgery (Optical Express)
Methods
A retrospective analysis was completed on a large cohort of presbyopic intraocular lens patients. One of four lens combinations were available to the cohort of 11,581 patients. Generalized linear modelling methodologies were employed to identify significant factors in patient satisfaction. Using model findings, lens selection optimization was developed where patients were categorized according to age, preoperative refractive error, occupation, hobbies, and motivations for treatment.
Results
High quality performance across all lens combinations was observed. However, notable differences between lens combinations existed with respect to uncorrected distance, intermediate, and near visual acuity, as well as quality of vision issues post implantation. Two lens combinations that provided superior uncorrected distance and near visual acuities and had an excellent safety profile are bilateral Tecnis 2.75 Add (ZKB00) and the combination of Symfony (ZXR00) and Tecnis 3.25 Add (ZLB00). Quality of Vision symptoms were reported less with the ZXR00 / ZLB00 and bilateral ZKB00 options than with bilateral ZXR00.
Conclusions
Identifying significant contributing factors to patient satisfaction, along with lens combination performance metrics, can aid in development of a patient-personalised lens selection methodology. The analysis illustrates that patient-specific presentations should be considered when making a final lens combination selection
