The Visual Functions After Implantation Of Edof Iol X-Wave Technology

Purpose
The aim of the study was to compare visual aquity /VA/ for different distances and subjective perception of visual functions/ VF4 questionnaire/ within groups of patients after the implantation of EDOF Intraocular lenses X-wave technology.
Setting
EDOF IOLs maintain a good distance VA. Increasing depth of focus improves Intermediate vision, which is one of the most important issues in today´s life. The X-wave technology , which stretches and shifts light without splitting, increasing spectacle independence and low night vision symptoms.
Methods
The group of 22 patients, 41 eyes underwent uneventful cataract surgery. 3 patients had monocular implantation, 4 eyes had mild pathology/ epiretinal membrane, mild neuropathy after delivery of tumour cerebri, glaucoma/.The average distance VA before surgery was 0,63±0,19 / Snellen/. Two groups were created. All of the patients were in the first group. The second group was created of the patients with bilateral implantation without pathology. VA was evaluated 3-10 month after surgery, when patients have filled out VF14 questionnaire.
Results
Distance VA at the first day after surgery was 0.87 ±0.13/ Snellen / . VA at the distance 70 cm was 0.19±0.09 logMAR. VA at 30-40 cm was 0.31± 0.10 logMAR.
Comparing two groups was done after 3-10 month after surgery. Distance VA in the first group was 0.86±0.18/ Snellen / and in the second group was 0.85 ±0.19.VA at distance 70 cm was 0.16±0.08 logMAR, in the second group 0.17±0.09 logMAR. VA at 30-40 cm was 0.36±0.12 logMAR in the first group and 0.35±0.12 log MAR. Statistical analysis ANOVA did not report significant difference at α=0.05 if P-value ˃ / p=0.8258ꓼ0.8650ꓼ0.0933/.
Results of V14 questionnaire was 90.49 in the first group and 93.99. / insignificant for α = 0.05 if p-value < α , p=0.8674/
Conclusions
The results testify, that EDOF IOL X wave is suitable solution of presbyopia at the cataract surgery when is implanted monocular or et presence of mild pathology. It was not significant difference in subjective satisfaction with visual functions between this two gropus of patienes.
