Purpose

To describe the clinical outcomes of our first 40 endoart implanted patients.

Setting

This preliminary report will include a total of 40 patients. 22 patients were implanted in our first in human, phase 1 study. 10 patients were implanted under compassionate indication. 8 patients were implanted in our phase 2 study. 

Methods

prospective study

Results

On going the initial data of these patients, including adverse events, corneal thickness, clinical parameters and pain reported during the follow up period will be presented. Experience of our surgical protocol will be shared as well.

Conclusions

An alternative approach for the treatment of chronic corneal edema that is focused on decreasing the inflow of water to the cornea using an impermeable synthetic endothelial implant was found to be possible. No device related serious adverse events were observed up fto this date
