Methods
Patients with senile cataract with no other ocular diseases were implanted with trifocal lenses PanOptix (Alcon), FineVision (PhysIOL), or a pentafocal lens Intensity (Hanita lens).
Outcome measures were the 3 month-postoperative uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), uncorrected intermediate visual acuity (UIVA), uncorrected near vsual acuity (UNVA), defocus curves, and subjective assessment of optical phenomena.
Results
All patients’ eyes underwent uneventful femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery and were implanted with PanOptix (203 eyes), FineVision (241 eyes) or Intensity (10 eyes).
The mean UDVA of PanOptix, FineVision, and Intensity 3 months following surgery were 0±0.10, 0±0.12, and 0.11±0.17 logMAR each, while the mean UIVA (50cm) were 0.07±0.13, 0.12±0.18, and 0.04±0.04 logMAR each.
The mean UNVA (30cm) were 0.24±0.16, 0.18±0.18, and 0.24±0.06 logMAR each. No severe symptoms of hallo and glare that resulted in IOL exchange were observed. The patients’ satisfaction scores of each IOL group ranged from 7 to 10 among 10 points. The defocus curves will be updated.
