Purpose
To compare the defocus curve, contrast sensitivity, patient and doctor satisfaction among six different presbyopia-correcting intraocular lenses in Taiwanese population.
Setting
A prospective cohort study
Methods
In this prospective cohort study, patient who received phacoemulsification were divided into six groups according to the type of presbyopia-correcting intraocular lens [extended depth of focus (ZXR00), diffractive panfocal (PanOptix), diffractive bifocal (ZMB00 and ReSTOR), segmental refractive (Oculentis MF15 and Oculentis MF30)]. The uncorrected and best corrected visual acuity (VA), defocus curves, contrast sensitivity, patient and doctor satisfaction were measured at 1 months and 4 months postoperatively.
Results
Conclusions
The extended depth of focus intraocular lens (ZXR00) offers a better intermediate visual acuity and contrast sensitivity than other presbyopia-correcting designs in this prospective study. While the panfocal PanOptix intraocular lens provides better visual acuity at near distance.
