Purpose
Compare intraoperative efficacy and postoperative safety of Active Sentry® and normal phaco handpiece with varying preset IOP with active fluidics and gravity fluidics during phacoemulsification
Setting
Iladevi Cataract & IOL Research centre & Raghudeep eye Hospital, Jaipur India
Methods
200 patients randomized to groups 1(n=80)Centurion vision system with low IOP(30mmHg),2(n=80)Centurion vision system with high IOP(55mmHg)or 3(n=40)Infiniti vision system with 80cm bottle height. Within groups 1&2,there were 2 subgroups with 40 patients each where active sentry handpiece was used,& subgroup b,where normal handpiece was used. In four eyes within each group,real-time dynamic intraoperative IOP was measured.Outcome measures:cumulative dissipated energy(CDE),number of surges and active sentry activations during surgery, corneal edema as well as central corneal thickness on day 1&week1,anterior chamber inflammation at week 1,corneal endothelial morphology at 6 months and macular thickness 1&3 mths postop.
