A Case Report Presentation Bilateral Episcleritis After Covid Infection A Month After Recovery

Purpose

to present a case of bilateral episcleritis after one month of covid infection.

Setting

Female patient 55 years old, came to the Emergency Department of ophthalmology, caused redness of conjunctiva in both eyes, mild eye pain and mild tearing, from seven days.  she was diagnosed with covid infection 1 month ago, with fever, myalgias, arthralgias, runny nose and sore throat without coughing.

 

Methods

Her visual acuity was 10 / 10sc, ocular mobility with mild pain, tyndal (-) and intraocular pressure OD  13mmHg and OS 12mmHg. Coll phenylephrine 5% was applied  for the differential diagnosis of conjunctivitis from episcleritis or scleritis. After five minutes, it was not conjunctivitis but episcleritis. The fundoscopy was normal.

Recommended Coll nepafenac 1%, s: 1x3 for ten days and review.

Coll phenylephrine 5% was applied to both eyes for the differential diagnosis of conjunctivitis from episcleritis or scleritis. After five minutes, it was found that it is not conjunctivitis but episcleritis in both of eyes. The fundoscopy was normal.

Recommended Coll nepafenac 1% (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug) s: 1x3 for ten days and review.

Results

 From the 10-days review, her clinical picture was improved. Complete cure in fifteen days.

Conclusions

After covid infection, inflammation may occur in the episcleral in both of eyes.
