Purpose

To asses the frequency of colorvision deficiency in population of sub continent. The Blue green spectrum is rare but green red spectrum of cvd is quite common .

Setting/Venue

Medical college Allama iqbal Lahore. This is a huge college comprising of 500 students representing whole of pakistan. An ideal setting for such a stu

Methods

Cross sectional study. Blindly chosen random students especially males from the whole of pakistan on merit.

The confounding factor can be literacy and iq higher than 100 .This can not be ruled out.

We may not be able to assess those who are illiterate with Ishihara charts. for those we need to adopt advanced methods but in doing so the sample size of 500 could not be maintained as of limitation of facilties in tertiary care in pakistan

Using Ishihara charts. Printed out to the nearest rgb value and rechecked subjectively.

Subjective type of study involving their effort during the research.

Results

10/100 males were having CVD . Red green spectrum.

The general CVD population in the world is 9/100 in males. But this study was largely conducted on european nationals. Sufficient data is still not available for Chinese. For South Asians especially in the subcontinent this ia the first study related to the targated population.

The chi square value for statistical significance show a value less than what is needed to  confirm significance.

None were found to be Blue green cvd. None of the 500 female were found cvd.

Conclusions

The CVD in sub continental race is slightly more prevalant than the reat of the world.i.e 9/100.

The results were statistically insignificant. Using the chi square method.

This will help the future progeny in chosing career and also to amend their cell phones.
