Purpose

The aim of the study was to compare the agreement and repeatability of measurement using three different swept-source optical coherence (OCT) biometry devices in short (<22.5mm) and long eyes (>25.5mm).

Setting

Vienna Institute for Research in Ocular Surgery, Hanusch Hospital, Vienna, Austria

Methods

In this prospective study 42 eyes of 42 patients were included. All patients underwent biometric measurements in a random fashion with three swept-source OCT devices (IOLMaster 700, Zeiss; Argos, Alcon; Anterion, Heildelberg Engineering). Each patient was measured three times with each device. Patients were measured preoperatively and 8 weeks (+/-2 weeks) postoperatively. The postoperative examination also contained visual acuity, autorefraction and subjective refraction.  Each patient received the same type of lens.

Results

Preliminary results are available. The mean age of the patients is 69 ± 11 years. The mean arithmetic difference in axial length between IOLMaster 700 and Argos was 0.011 mm and between Anterion and Argos was0.013 mm. For anterior chamber depth the difference was -0.143 mm and -0.078mm, respectively and for mean keratometry the values were 0.024 mm and 0.027 mm, respectively. The coefficient of repeatability for AL was 0.06 for IOLMaster 700 , 0.04 for Argos, and 0.05 for Anterion, and for Km they were 0.101, 0.081 and 0.071 respectively.

Conclusions

A good repeatability in biometric parameters in long and short eyes was found for all biometry devices included. A good correlation was found between IOLMaster 700 and Argos and Anterion and Argos respectively. The final analysis will be presented at the 40th ESCRS Conference.
