Optical biometer

NIDEK has received the CE mark for the Optical Biometer AL-Scan. 'In 10 seconds the AL-Scan measures six required values for IOL calculation including axial length, corneal curvature radius, anterior chamber depth, central corneal thickness, white-to-white distance and pupil size,' said a company spokesman. 'To facilitate easy acquisition, NIDEK has incorporated 3-D auto tracking and auto shot. Proprietary measurement algorithms enhance the signal-to-noise ratio by decreasing noise and boosting the signal, enabling the AL-Scan to measure eyes with even dense cataract. For extremely dense cataracts, the AL-Scan has an optional builtin ultrasound biometer, allowing measurement of virtually any cataractous eye,' he said.
