Dan Z Reinstein MD, MA(Cantab), FRCSC, DABO, FRCOphth, FEBO reads from his new book on small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) refractive surgery technology and techniques at the Carl Zeiss Meditec booth at the 2018 ASCRS Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, USA. Not only does SMILE produce refractive outcomes similar to LASIK for myopic patients and myopic patients with astigmatism, it is less painful for patients and leaves the cornea much stronger, Dr Reinstein said.
