International Niemann-Pick Disease Alliance (INPDA) launches awareness campaign

Think NP-C is a global campaign targeting healthcare professionals that may see symptoms of this rare disease including ophthalmologists who may notice vertical supranuclear gaze palsy which is one of the many symptoms.

NP-C is commonly undetected or misdiagnosed.  This is often due to its highly variable clinical presentation characterised by a wide range of symptoms that individually are not specific to the disease1,4 Symptoms can be categorised as visceral (including hepatosplenomegaly), neurological (including vertical supranuclear gaze palsy, ataxia and developmental delay) or psychiatric (including early onset psychosis and prominent visual hallucinations).
