Abstract Details

We report an IOL reposition surgery using trocar assisted IOL scleral fixation method in patient with dislocated IOL.

Istanbul Medeniyet University School of Medicine, Goztepe, Istanbul, Turkey

We formed 3 mm long two scleral tunnels 2mm from and parallel to the limbus with 23 gauge vitrectomy trocar entering sclera transconjonctivally at an approximately 10 degrees angle. Haptics were captured by a 23 gauge serrated retinal forceps entering from trocar cannula and haptics were externalised from the scleral tunnels together with the trocar. Same procedure applied for the other haptic. Both haptics were pushed into scleral tunnel and a transconjunctival secure suture is placed at the scleral tunnel entry site around the haptic with a 10-0 nylon suture. Sutures were removed one week later.

No complications were seen intraoperatively or postoperatively. After 10 months follow up period IOL was seen stabilized.

IOL reposition surgery using trocar assisted IOL scleral fixation method is an alternative intra-scleral fixation surgery.
