Conservative therapy of Marfan syndrome eye manifestations in children

Topicality. Nowadays there are no agents for the cure of Marfan syndrome. Nevertheless the achievements of modern medicine help to prolong life time of these patients. Therapy of that disease is usually performed dependently on its progress. The aim of the research: is estimation of conservative therapy optimized scheme efficiency for eye manifestations of Marfan syndrome in children.


The analysis of the current conservative therapy efficiency was performed among non-operated 16 children with MS.


The clinical criteria of the current therapy efficiency was rise of tolerance to physical loads, growth of muscle power, stabilization of aorta diameter (according to echocardiography data) and tendency for normalization of external breathing function values, improvement of small movements, rise of emotional tension, increase of unconditioned memory volume, concentration of attention and improvement of school results. The control checking of the alterations of Ca, P, Mg and APh levels in blood and lymphocyte cellular energy exchange enzymes activity values was performed in 1 month after administration of the agents.


After complex therapy the values of Ca, P, Mg and APh became normal in 75% of the children with MS. The dynamics of the values after the therapy was from 12%. With the optimized therapy children had improvement of cyto-chemical parameters such as: reliable rise of HDG and HPDG, indicating intensification of aerobic processes. The analysis of LDG amount after therapy also had positive dynamics and in 87.5% of the patients was close to the control values. Ophthalmologic examination of the patients after the therapy showed positive dynamics of the acuity of vision recovery average to 76%.


Conclusion. Thus, the performed research demonstrated obvious efficiency of the optimized scheme of the conservative therapy for correction of mineral status and improvement of cellular energy exchange processes, and improvement of the clinical values of eye manifestations in children with Marfan syndrome.
