Abstract Details

To report a case of subconjunctival IOL dislocation through scleral tunnel 12 years after mini-nucleus surgery following blunt ocular trauma.

Department of Ophthalmology, Uludag University

A case report

A 76 year-old female patient referred to our clinic with blunt ocular trauma. The visual acuity in her right eye was hand motion. The biomicroscopic examination showed subconjunctival hemorrhage, total hyphema and subconjunctival dislocated IOL optic with one of the haptics. The eye was hypotonic. During the surgery, the IOL was extracted and a scleral rupture was noted in the old scleral tunnel incision site. The tunnel was repaired and anterior vitrectomy performed. The patient was left aphakic.

This is a unique report that shows IOL dislocation through the old scleral tunnel incision site 12 years after mini-nucleus surgery.
