Abstract Details

We have evaluated the subjective perception of halo effects in a patient with trifocal lens replacement for a monofocal lens in patient´s dominant eye.

Eye Clinic DuoVize, Prague, Czech Republic

64 years old patient has been at first treated for senile cataract of both eyes with implantation of trifocal lens AcrySof IQ PanOptix. Due to the persistent disturbing halo effects half a year after the operation the trifocal lens from the dominant eye was explanted and replaced by a monofocal lens AcrySof IQ.

We have induced hybrid monovision and amount of halo effects has significantly reduced and does not limit the patient in his active life anymore. The patient is very satisfied now.

Neuroadaptation to trifocal lenses may not always be successful. In this case it is possible to consider an exchange of trifocal lens from dominant eye for a monofocal lens.
