Abstract Details

To evaluate the clinical performance, efficacy and safety of the Versario IOL

Department of Ophthalmology, Pomeranian Medical University Szczecin, Poland

Prospective study comprising 40 eyes of 20 patients undergoing uneventful cataract surgery with implantation of trifocal Versario lenses. Six months postoperatively were evaluated: binocular uncorrected distance (4m), intermediate (50, 60, 70, 80cm) and near visual acuities (40cm)(UDVA, UIVA, UNVA) (logMAR), uncorrected binocular photopic and mesopic distance and photopic near contrast sensitivities (CSV-1000), spectacle independence, subjective symptoms, patient satisfaction (VFQ-25) and complications.

Six months after binocular surgery UDVA was equal of -0.1 or better. All eyes had binocular vision at 40 cm higher than 0.1. The intermediate vision from the distances 50, 60, 70,80 cm were 0,1 or better. Contrast sensitivities under photopic and mesopic conditions were within normal age-matched limits. All patients were spectacle independent. Low level of glare and halo perception was reported, less than 2 (0-4). Mean overall patient satisfaction was very high, more than 9.0 (0-10). No postoperative complications were detected.

The results of our study suggest that in selected group of patients the Versario lenses implantation was a safe and effective method for patients who want to be spectacle independent at different distances
