Abstract Details

To report the surgical management of a patient with bilateral anterior lenticonus due to Alport syndrome using both femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS) and optiwave refractive analysis (ORA) system.

Oftalvist Alicante C/ Angel Lozano 11 03001 Alicante

A 38-year-old man with Alport syndrome presented to our department with visual loss due to anterior lenticonus in both eyes. Adjustments during FLACS were performed in both surgeries with the software calipers to manually delineate the correct anterior capsule. Posterior multifocal toric intraocular lens were selected and positioned aided by intraoperative aberrometry.

The intended intraocular lens (IOL) postoperative positioning parameters were achieved as well as visual acuity and planned refraction.

The use of new technologies can be safe and successful tolls for challenging cases such as cataract surgery in patients with anterior lenticonus due to Alport syndrome.
