Abstract Details

The anterior chamber depth (ACD) prediction error is one of the reasons for postoperative refractive error of cataract surgery. A swept source anterior segment optical coherence tomographer (SS-OCT) was used to obtain the anterior segment imaging between cornea and posterior capsule of lens. The purpose of this study was to evaluate parameters as predictors of postoperative intraocular lens (IOL) position.

Yukioka Hospital, Osaka, Japan

One hundred and thirty one eyes implanted with single-piece IOLs were enrolled. Each patient underwent preoperative and postoperative examination with SS-OCT. The correlations of preoperative parameters with postoperative ACD (postACD) were detected. Each case was classified into the training set and the validation set. Based on the training set data, the regression formula for predicting the postACD was developed via multiple linear regression analysis with preoperative parameters. In the validation set data, the coefficients of determination were compared between the measured postACD and the predicted postACD.

The postACD was 4.4±0.24mm, and significantly correlated with 6 preoperative variables: Angle to Angle width(ATAw), ATA depth(ATAd), preoperative ACD (preACD), Axial Length (AL), Lens Thickness (LT)and Central Corneal Thickness(CCT)(P<0.001). The following formula was developed: postACD=-0.046+0.085*AL+0.115*LT+0.562*ATAd(R=0.84;95%CI, 0.451-0.755;P<0.0001).

PostACD was proven to be predicted with AL, LT and ATAd measured by SS-OCT.
